In the fall of 2019 Desloges Law Group, a successful immigration firm, reached out to LexCloud.ca to support their move to a new office in downtown Toronto. “As one might imagine, there were many headaches associated with the logistics” says Senior Partner Chantal Desloges.
The switch to more comprehensive electronic filing in Canadian courts has been a major step toward ensuring an efficient and accessible legal system. However, as the profession adjusts to new technologies and more distributed operations, many are experiencing "growth pains", particularly when navigating courts' overly restrictive e-file size limits.
Many firms have distributed their operations, with members accessing systems offsite on unsecured devices. This significantly increases the firm's risk exposure.
Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many Canadian firms moved to a more distributed model, with members working regularly from home. Remote technology has become essential for maintaining practice continuity.
